Todd Huizinga

Todd Huizinga is the Executive Director of the U.S. office of the Transatlantic Christian Council, and an independent consultant based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, helping companies and non-profits establish and expand operations in Europe and Latin America. He also joined the Acton Institute in February 2014 as Director of International Outreach. He was Board member of the Dutch branch of TCC form 2013-2015.

Todd was a U.S. diplomat from 1992 through 2012.  Most recently, in 2011-2012, he served as Political Counselor at the U.S. Mission to the European Union.  This was his second assignment to Brussels.  From 2003-2006 Mr. Huizinga was First Secretary at the U.S. Mission to the EU, responsible for U.S. relations with the European Parliament.

Todd’s other diplomatic postings include Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg, Consul for Public Affairs at the U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey, Mexico, and European Union Desk Officer at the State Department in Washington, D.C.  He has also served at the U.S. embassies in San Jose, Costa Rica and Dublin, Ireland, and as Vice Consul or Consul at three U.S. Consulates in Germany (Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich).

Todd has a B.A. in German and Music from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and an M.A. in German language and literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is married and has three children.
